10′ x 10′ Carved Teak Wood Ceiling Panel Depicting a Scene

Description

This monumental teakwood story panel is made up of 10 individual segments hung on the wall by a cleat. It depicts a scene of old Thai village life. In the upper part we see the steeply-pitched roofs of Thai village houses set amidst lush forest. In the center we see a bustling market scene along the river, with an abundance of foodstuffs being bought and sold. In the foreground a woman fills her water jug from a bed of lotuses. The figures are gently and expressively rendered -the quality of the carving is superb. The huge panel can be displayed as art or hung as a headboard. Being teak, it can be safely displayed indoors or outdoors. The piece was carved in 2019 and gently aged in the sun to produce a subtle antique patina. It was made in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
